According to the report, the worker jumped to his death from Google’s 14th-floor Chelsea office block on Thursday. The police and authorities have not yet released the man’s identity, and the deceased’s loved ones have not been notified.
There has been another incident since an employee committed suicide in February.
The New York Post reports that when witnesses saw a man lying unconscious on the ground across from a 15-story Art Deco building on West 15th Street, they dialled 911 several times.
The police arrived quickly and took him to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Handprints found on the ledge of an outdoor terrace on the fourteenth floor have led investigators to speculate that the man in question may have jumped from that location.
However, there has been no discovery of a suicide note or video recording of the incident at the scene.
Before this incident, another Google employee named Jacob Pratt was found dead, also by suicide, several months earlier. Pratt was a software engineer at the Manhattan headquarters of the company, and he was 33 years old.
On the 16th of February, he was discovered dead in a Chelsea flat at the corner of West 26th Street and 6th Avenue.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Jacob Pratt worked as the “partnership lead” at Google for almost four years. However, other sources, such as his obituary, incorrectly labelled him as the “accounting manager” at Google.
According to an obituary in the Lansing State Journal, Pratt was a resident of the Bushwick section of Brooklyn who passed away on February 16.
According to the same obituary, the 33-year-old had graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago. It was unclear why he took his own life.
